Fresh Expressions and the Mission-Shaped Church with Bishop Graham Cray |
|
Rev. Graham Cray is the Bishop of Maidstone and the chair of the working group who published "The Mission Shaped Church." Bishop Cray sat down with Alan Roxburgh to talk about what is happening in the UK around fresh expressions of the mission-shaped church. This short and interesting interview was shot at the Archbishop of Canterbury's Lambeth Palace.

As a Canadian Anglican, I have deeply appreciatd the direction that the Fresh Expressions movement has provided us, even here in Canada. It is exciting, risky, but oh, so welcome. Thank you for this interview with Bishop Cray.
As a Church of England priest and missioner, I would echo Graham's words. In my own diocese (Bristol, in the West of England), over 50% of parishes have some sort of 'fresh expression' of church alongside the traditional services. This is not just theory - it's happening on the ground.
As an Asian-American Youth guy, I have been watching with interest the "expressions" of church here in California and internationally. Some seem to want to toss out the old in favor of a new expression but I am encouraged at the Bishop's "catholic" and unifying viewpoint that preserves the old and encourages the new.
